I received my BFA in Design from Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California and went on to work as an art director and designer for Shape Magazine, Living Fit Magazine, Andrews McMeal Publishing, Los Angeles Daily News and many others. I have also authored and published several books on creative food for kids. I feel both honored and lucky to have received such a great arts education. It provided me with a foundation in all the fundamentals of art history, technical skills in drawing, painting, graphics, and photography. I left the world of publishing when I had children of my own to focus on my family. And as my children grew, I discovered my passion for art didn’t die, it simply took a new turn as I began to teach. I feel lucky now to be able to share my knowledge and experience I've gained over the years with a new generation of young artists. I love that art can be fun for the sake of enjoyment but can also reinforce ideas in other subjects. And I love the collaboration aspect of art and how it brings people together of different backgrounds, different ideas and can make us see things in new ways.
