In Memoriam--Mr. Dick Rippey 1940-2016
Mr. Dick Rippey, born in 1940, was a student, teacher, coach, administrator, and dedicated educator of thousands of young boys and girls at Hollywood High School over many years. Mr. Rippey attended Hollywood High School and graduated in 1958. He returned to teach and coach several sports in the 1960's and 70's. He later became an assistant principal and continued to serve the Hollywood High School community in the 80's and 90's until retiring in 2002. One of Mr. Rippey's legacy is taking the Hollywood Sheiks football team to the East Valley League Championships in 1975. As a great supporter of academics and athletics, Mr. Rippey could be found at every football game rooting for the Sheiks and supporting Hollywood High School students in pursuit of higher education. Mr. Rippey embodied the Hollywood High School spirit and was a man who truly achieved the honorable in his lifetime of caring and generous support of Sheiks and Lady Sheiks of all walks of life. Mr. Rippey passed away on April 30th, 2016. May he rest in peace and his spirit live on to touch the lives of future generations.
